The book has a nice opening, which encourages the reader to come out of their box to search and practice the word of God for their selves, and not depending on the preacher or pastor (which the author made an example of herself that she thought the scripture, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God” (Romans 10:17), meant through the preacher. It is more focused on declarations, or rather affirmations of speaking what is unseen as if they are. Its beautiful conclusion of self-worth affirmation is most encouraging.

On the positive side, the book carries out strong identity declarations of faith, which are a good booster of self-confidence, self-esteem and believing in yourself through the word of God.

Nevertheless I have noticed three biblical errors that J. Marie Jones brings to my attention. One is the misinterpretation of spiritual authority, like the “binding” and “loosing” she mentions that it began with Peter, and ending with the other apostles of the Lamb, but not bestowed or authorized to those who believe in Christ after them. She agrees and disagrees with herself that binding the devil is not authorized to believers of today, but resisting him is. Which on the other hand resisting to accept or comply with something and which is the same as binding or prohibiting.

Secondly on page 25 and 21, she dishes out a confused teaching. On page 25 she states that “you must be clearly, and unequivocally lead by God to engage in direct confrontation with the enemy and his forces”. But on page 21 before that, she refers that binding (prohibiting) and loosing (permitting) does not refer to persons but things. Therefore how will you confront without prohibiting?

Thirdly, the liberty and acceptance of divorce she bestows on page 63-64, and the idea of marrying again while your ex-partner is still alive. This is quiet misleading, because based on 1-Corinthians 7:27-39, the wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. If this is not clarified, it will lead to adultery being promoted.

I would rate the book 2 out of 4, because for some who are babes in Christ will have difficulty is separating the good from the bad that is in the book, and will take everything in without rightly dividing the word of God.

I would probably recommend the book to a mature believer, or those who have full grown in all aspects of Christ and have thorough understanding of the word of God.
