Exploring Wine Regions- Bordeaux France by Michael C. Higgins, PhD is an amazing book that manages to capture the beauty of Bordeaux while giving information about the wines that originated there.

The book starts with the author explaining how and why Bordeaux wines are different from other New- World wines. Description is given in great detail about how different factors contribute to the cultivation of grapes used for wine making. Moving forward, the author provides an intriguing guide about the places a person can visit when in Bordeaux. A city map along with a list of the various landmarks, restaurants, museums, parks and hotels is also included. The book ends with a perfect conclusion given by the author. It includes how well he has come to know Bordeaux through his many visits and research. He also sums up what we have basically learned by reading the book.

Overall, reading the book feels like going on an adventure through different regions of Bordeaux, while learning about wine-making at the same time. The author also happens to be an exceptional photographer, with his pictures filling the reading experience with colours and reality.

The author is clearly an expert in the topic he has written about, as is clearly evident by the detailed and easy-to-understand way in which he has presented his data. Even for a person with absolutely no knowledge about wines, this book is a great and enlightening read. The pictures and descriptions make Bordeaux sound like the perfect vacation destination for any wine enthusiast. The sweet poem written by the author in the first chapter really signifies how passionate the author is about wines.

My favourite part about the book is the pictures. The author provides many images of various places like the vineyards, tourist spots and even his work space. As a result, reading the book feels like a journey. An index is also provided at the end of the book along with some definitions which is really helpful.

There were no negative aspects that I could find in this book. It was a pleasure to read and had a lot to teach.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It contains everything that was promised in the introduction, and more. The editing was good with hardly any mistakes. The language was simple and compelling. The layout of the book made the reading experience enjoyable. I learned a lot from this book and not only about wine, but also about the Bordeaux region of France.

I would recommend this book to people who are curious about wine and its complexities. It will also be helpful to people who want to know more about the travel experiences of Bordeaux, France.
