Jorge P. Newbery had his life together and the money he needed for his necessities until he lost it all. After going into thousands of dollars of debt, Jorge learned the best way to resolve his issue; not paying. In Jorge's book Debt Cleanse he outlines the steps to take to get rid of your debt by not paying it. As surprising as it might seem, by simply ceasing to make your payments, your debt can eventually be forgotten or written off. The book goes through steps to avoid paying loans such as for your mortgage, vehicle loans, student loans, business loans, secured personal loans, credit card, medical, and a few others. Each chapter outlines the steps to take for each specific loans.

While I personally have no debt or loans that need to be paid, this book was very informative on how to get rid of your debt. Each step is explained as to how to proceed with your debt. Another positive of this book is that each chapter is titled what type of debt will be covered, so if you only had student loan debts you would be able to skip to that chapter. Another great aspect of this book is Newbery gives you outlines to request documents, and for what letters you should send on your debt cleanse journey. A big part of getting rid of your debt is finding the deficiencies in the company that you owe. There is a list of all sorts of deficiencies that you can look for towards the end of the book.

While the steps in the book are very helpful, some of the chapters have so many steps it can become overwhelming. To fully get rid of some forms of debt takes many years. This means many time consuming steps that some people don't have time for. It can be very strenuous and exhausting to deal with. At times, this book makes it harder rather than easier to deal with.

I rate this book at 3 out of 4 stars. This book clearly outlines steps you can take to get out of any debt you might find yourself buried in. Clearly defined chapters allows individuals to focus on the specific debt they've found themselves in. Some chapters become very long and the steps hard to stay on track with. The outlines of letters to send or deficiencies to look for can be very helpful though.

I would recommend this book to anyone who currently finds themselves overwhelmed in their debt and unable to make their payments. This book can really get someone the help they didn't know they needed. Someone not currently riddled with debt can also find this book useful. Getting out of debt can be very difficult, the best thing anyone can do is to not get in it in the first place.
