The audible version of The Chrystilleries of Echoland, by Dew Pellucid and narrated by B.J Harrison, is a marvelous read, full of twists and turns. Set in 2 parallel worlds, one known as the Sound Realm and the other as Echoland. Whilst echo’s are knowledgeable of their counterpart sound’s existence, the sound’s themselves are unaware of echo’s. The issues between the two worlds arises when the Echo’s create the Death Law, declaring if a sound dies than so must his corresponding echo. This is a law our main character Will Cleary will need to learn in order to find his sister and survive the challenges ahead.

I find that Dew Pellucid does wonderful work with the story plot. The work to make the plot flow makes the story easy to listen to and understand. Personally, his use of making the characters work through their hardships to achieve the solution to each mystery, allowed me to appreciate the book that much more.

The narration by Harrison enhances the way a reader understands the novel. Harrison brings the characters to life by changing the pitch and tone to the pitch and character. For those considering to try out an audible book for the first time,The Chrystilleries of Echoland, is a great novel to start with as the audio is clear and flows throughout the whole duration of the book.

Another point I would like to talk about is Drew’s work with the character development. Whilst the perspective is in third person and following Will’s personal adventures in the novel, we still get to witness the amazing character growth. Each character’s development occurred at different passes and was well thought out, making the connection between reader and character strong. My personal favorite growths were between Will and his echo, because they don’t mimic each other’s growth, which I’ve found other parallel themed books tend to do. They frequently separated to uncover separate mysteries in these moments the reader is able to connect to the characters as individuals and not reflections.

I am here to rate the Audible version of the novel The Chrystilleries of Echoland, I personally love the book and give it a 4 out of 4. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Will’s adventures in Echoland as he searches for his sister, only to uncover there is more to the world’s than he thinks. Thank you Dew for creating this marvelous novel, and Harrison for narrating!
