[Following is a volunteer review of "Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat" by R.F. Kristi.]
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the seventh book in the series. Inca is a super-duper cat detective who is the head of the Inca & Company, her very own detective agency. Would this prestigious detective agency be able to solve the case of the missing sword?
Inca, a Siberian detective cat, had come on a vacation to the sunny island of Sri Lanka with her family. They were staying in a cottage in a seaside village named Galle. The sandy beaches and the frothy waves were something they didn’t get to enjoy in London. While they were having breakfast in their cottage, their human mom casually mentioned the theft of an antique sword in a museum in Colombo. Since Inca owned a detective agency, this piqued her interest. Terrance, an Inca & Company dog detective, soon joined them on the island. The director of the museum had invited Solo, his master and a human detective, to investigate the case. Would Inca and her companions be able to help solve the case of the missing sword? Or would this case remain unsolved?
I loved the simplicity of the book. The author has tried to inject some humor, knowledge and life lessons into the story. There is mention of turtles being slow, cats and leopards being related, details about Sri Lanka’s customs, etcetera. She has also attempted to highlight the importance of teamwork and friends. The pictures that were illustrated in the book made the reading experience more enjoyable. I especially liked the one with Inca as a mermaid.
There was nothing worth disliking in the story. There were a few errors, but they didn’t disrupt the flow of the book. It seems well-edited. With this in mind, I would love to give this book four out of four stars.
I would recommend this book to children who like a bit of mystery and suspense. This story is suitable for children of all ages, as there were no profanities or sexual content.
