[Following is a volunteer review of "Timewise" by Robert Leet.]
Ron Larsen is a pioneer in the field of mathematics, but to what lengths, only time will tell. In Timewise, by Robert Leet, we follow Ron Larsen as he learns the value of the people in his life. As a teenager, Ron met his mentor Regina Russo, an extremely passionate quantum physics professor, who taught at a college near him in New England, Massachusetts. Over time, Regina proves to act as an engine to Ron Larsen’s lifeboat. Under her wing, Ron learns more than he bargained for as their bond strengthens. In his own right, Ron seems destined to a certain profound perception, as he is met with several challenging relationships that feed his curious mind.
Ron possesses the drive and the curiosity to unravel his destiny just as he unravels various math equations. When he fully delves into the world of mathematics, he uses these traits to propel his ventures, without his mentor. Theories and formulas take on new life after Ron is lead to apply his logic to real life applications. His strategies prove useful, extending the gap between his old and new lifestyle. The vast universe seems to shine on Ron as he climbs the social ladder, gaining recognition for his progress.
When Regina calls on him for help, however, his new life is turned upside down. Ron learns he hadn't been the only one applying what he knows; but Regina's aspirations have a history of detrimental consequences. Suddenly Regina’s enemies become his and together they must fight back. In an effort to protect Regina’s most prized and clandestine project, the pair take unfathomable measures. If the universe is as unpredictable as they understand it to be, they stand a cat hair’s chance at dodging danger unscathed.
Timewise is an engaging novel that takes us into the depths of the universe. Readers are reminded of greats like Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton who created a foundation that scientist highly regard to this day. Their life’s work is analyzed, bringing new threads of thought to widely accepted concepts. In doing so, Leet reminds us why humans are important in the grand scheme of things; no matter how grand it is.
There is little to be disappointed about when reading this book except for the small errors throughout. These mistakes took away very little from the story. The narrative is strong enough to afford these mistakes however, there are several, so I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars.
I recommend Timewise for people who enjoy a good novel that expands their way of thinking. You don’t have to be a science wiz to read this story. For those who are just curious about how things work in the universe, this book is a great find. Readers will come to discover that we truly live in a highly advanced wonderland; perfect for those who wonder.
