Devil Among Us by Jack Winnick is an action and suspense filled book. There is mild violence throughout the book but it is not overly detailed. There is a scene of a character trying to force intercourse on another character. It starts out with a Jewish family that surprises the reader with an unexpected course of action. At the end of the book, there is a war. There are two FBI agents who rekindle their old flame in this book. There is one mild curse word used on page 182.

The positive aspects of this book are the characters descriptions and the accurate southern dialogue used. The descriptions of the characters are amazing, allowing you to see the characters with no problem in your head. You can also picture all the places the author describes to you. The southern dialogue is great to where you are able to hear the words in your head with the southern accent.

The negative aspects of this book are the author introducing new characters constantly and the mentioning of Hitler and 9/11 a lot. The book started out with introducing new characters every chapter and then, the author started introducing more in the middle of a chapter. It got confusing to me and it was hard to keep track of them all. The book mentions Hitler, 9/11 and the Nazis a ton. It goes with the story line but not enough for how many times they got mentioned. It felt to me that the author was overusing them to make a point even though you knew the point from the beginning.

I rate Devil Among Us by Jack Winnick 3 out of 4 stars. It was good in the beginning but it got confusing towards the end of the book. I enjoyed reading the book but not enough to re-read it. I would recommend the book to others, especially those who like suspense filled books. It was enough to get me hooked but not enough to keep me hooked, sadly.

I would recommend this to adults who are into action-packed, suspense filled fiction books. If you like fiction war stories, I would recommend reading this book. I wouldn’t recommend this to children or teenagers due to a few scenes that are not appropriate. It is not a long book so if you enjoy a quick read, I would definitely recommend this book to you.
