Chasing The Red Queen by Karen Glista is a story that revolves around a young, Chippewa girl named Donja Bellanger. After the death of her father, she got into the goth lifestyle which she loved. Everything was going good but then her mother, Lisa Bellanger and Donja's soon to be step-father, Carson Hampton decided to move to Sault Ste. Marie. Anna, Donja's grandmother warned them about the danger that awaits them if they moved there but Lisa ignored her. Donja was heartbroken after hearing this news as she has to leave everything behind and move to a new city. She completely lost it when she found out that she has to share her room with her step-sister, Makayla Hampton. To both Donja and Makayla's surprise, they bonded well as they both have been through a lot of misery and they understood each other's pain. Their life changed dramatically when they went to Observers, one of the most popular nightspots in the city to celebrate Donja's 18th birthday. There she met Torin Mancini, an Iridescent who is drawn to Donja and her unique Chippewa blood. Donja is mesmerized by Torin as he is extremely handsome. But there is a predator who also got his eyes on Donja and is after her. Will Torin be able to you save Donja's life or will he lose her?

The thing I liked most about this book is that how it explains beautifully, that no matter what, our family and loved ones will do anything to protect us. The author has done a really good job in writing this masterpiece. The scenes were descriptive, so it was really easy to imagine and follow the storyline. The character development, background and plot twist in the story are appreciable.

There were some typographical and grammatical errors in the book. Also, some scenes didn't require so much description and it felt unnecessary to stretch those which could have been shorter. Overall, the story was really convincing and the writing was plausible.

I will rate this book 3 out of 4 stars as the book was not edited professionally. There were typos and other errors, hence it can use another round of editing. But the story was something new and different from other vampire stories. It has romance, family drama, action and much more.

I will recommend this book to young adults who like paranormal and vampire stories. This book contains religious content, profane language and sex scenes which might be offensive to some people so I won't recommend it to them. Otherwise, if you are a fan of action, drama and romance this book is for you.
