[Following is a volunteer review of "Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks" by Morton E Tavel, MD.]
In the present day, the internet is one of the most resourceful sources of information. Many people use the internet to learn about health and to do a quick investigation about their health condition. However, there is a large amount of inaccurate information online that can lead to misinformation. Misinformation about health can lead to severe consequences on the quality of life and mortality. Misinformation can quickly spread like wildfire to the extent that it is perceived as facts. The author of this book was repelled by the unscientific claims consumed by the public. He, therefore, decided to write a book. A book meant to set the record straight on many health subjects.
Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks is a non-fiction book authored by Dr. Morton E. Tavel. The author is a retired physician who is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He took it upon himself to separate facts from myths and provide well-founded health tips to readers. This book has three main sections. The first section discusses health and wellness tips that can be adopted into one’s day-to-day life. The tips provided in this section will help readers create a healthier lifestyle. In the second section, the book discusses the myths about health. The last section discusses the tricks commonly used to take money out of people’s pockets in exchange for invalid products and information.
The most appealing thing about this book is the high-quality information it offers. The author provided information that is well researched and thorough. This book was clear, understandable, and objective; hence, making the information easy to use. The style, language, and use of technical terminologies had the reader in mind; the book is easy to comprehend. Dr. Tavel also cited sources so that readers can do more research on the topics discussed. I finished reading this book way smarter than when I started it. For instance, when someone claims their products work by a secret formula, they are a likely fraud. The book educates that real scientists share knowledge about their products so that their peers can review them.
The author used a no-nonsense approach when tackling different health topics. He exhibited authority and fearlessness when discussing the topics. As a reader, this showed me that he is well versed in what he is talking about. He doesn’t expect readers to be his blind followers because he offers an in-depth explanation as to why he has arrived at his conclusion.
There is nothing I disliked about this book. It was well written and exceptionally well-edited. I did not encounter any grammatical errors while reading it. I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. Anyone interested in adopting a healthy lifestyle should give this book a read.
