A startup entrepreneur strives to reconcile two things in his quest to bring his big idea to life and make his enterprise successful in the marketplace; setting systems and providing value to customers.

The book Brand Real by Vasken Kalayjian is an attempt to enlighten startup entrepreneurs on how to create a brand that is based on providing customers with real value and building the kind of flexible organization with a strong values-based culture that can deliver on the brand’s promise.

The author is a good writer and an amazing teacher. He introduces the concept he wants to talk about in the beginning of each chapter, giving the reader an idea of what the chapter offers and what to expect, thereby inciting the interests of the reader and the end of the chapter, he reinforces his lesson by summarizing his ideas into key points, and giving exercises. The summary and exercises at the end of each chapter gives the reader an avenue to practise what he learnt in the book. This is what I love most about the book.

He also referred us to other books and authors that will help us understand and gain more knowledge of the concept. The author wasn't just trying to make a point in his book, his target is to get his readers to grow themselves because branding goes beyond the business even to the personality of the businessman.

Another thing that I love about the book is the brevity of the chapters. The chapters are brief, straight to the point and loaded with amazing contents. The author is not there to waste the reader's time by being unnecessarily detailed with points that are not relating. Each chapter is brief, straight to the point and contributes to the central idea of the book. The brevity of the chapters made it easy to finish and reduced boredom.

Although the concepts the author discussed in this book is a bit complex, he relates them in simple and plain terminologies to the reader. The author is also very skilled in the use of examples. He skilfully used real life examples and illustrations to drive home his point and paint a good mental picture in the mind of his readers.

The information written in this book is beyond mere research. The author was not just writing based on what he researched or read somewhere, the information came from within the author, things that he practiced. It was written from the well of his wisdom.

There's nothing that I disliked about the book.

The book is an amazing book and the editors did an exceptional job. I'd rate four out of four stars. Brand Real is designed as a handbook for startup entrepreneurs. It covers a variety of topics every startup entrepreneur needs to know about in order to achieve success. I'd recommend it to any aspiring or startup entrepreneur.
