Unknown Vengeance is an amazing book. The best way to describe this book is that Unknown Vengeance is a pile of honey and the reader is a fly sucked into that honey. Part of this honey is how well you get to know these characters. Each of the characters becomes like a friend telling you about the time these detective characters teamed up together to catch a serial killer while sitting in a bar. Pat O Brian created a special blend of the dark horrors of serial killing balanced with humor. Using this unique blend makes for an enthralling and immersive experience for any reader wanting to find a escape.

Another part of the honey of this story is how realistically it flows as the law enforcement team investigate the serial killer. What I mean is that it accounts for how much of police work is waiting for action. As a Criminal Minds fan I enjoyed the deep dive in how psychology plays a role in a significant amount of serial crime and how that is changing police policy regarding serial crime. Using this platform, Obrian also tackles the relevant changing mindset of police forces and explores the mentality growth among the police force. This is an especially pertinent point to address in a book set in southern America during times when police brutality is being challenged by people everywhere.

In my opinion there are no negative points;which in itself is a positive point.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre of Crime Novels. This is partly because this story seems to be exceptionally well edited. What leads me to say well edited is that every plot line is tied up while still leaving the reader wanting more of these characters stories. As a lifelong bookworm this is important to me in the judging of how good the book is. Very often, plot holes-as they are called-can distract from wonderful writing. Part of it is also because of how quickly a reader is hooked when reading this because of the originality in the beginning. Another reason is how detailed every chapter is. The details leave a you with cinematic reel feel in your imagination as you read. Due to these things I would report this book is a Four out of Four stars. On the flipside, I would need to caution anyone under sixteen from reading this for the very same reasons as Obrain is very detailed in descriptions.
