Reath is in peril and it depends on a giant, an elf, and a fresh graduate to keep everything from falling apart. A world that was bestowed with magic since "The Gift" continues to be unaware of its non-magical mirror image; Earth. The Mirror between the two worlds continues to stand, causing reathquakes if anyone tries to cross over. But when a non-magical baby is born on Reath, the balance between the two worlds is tipped. Lila Bakurets, Battleaxe, and Graute are entrusted with the mission to bring the newborn and right the balance.

The story follows them across foreign lands and how their mission continues. The storyline is engaging, I was thoroughly indulged. Tayma Tameem has written each character with care. Their backstories and their present selves are consistent, giving them natural growth. I found them relatable and rooted for them throughout the book. Since the majority of the book takes place in a foreign land, the author cleverly takes this opportunity to explain their magical world without it looking forced. The author has laid quite a lot of groundwork and built a very enchanting Reath. This being the first installment, Tayma has left the book at a very intriguing climax. Any reader would rush to read the next installment.

The author has done a great job with the book. However, there are a few things that I think could be enhanced. I noticed that the author is very descriptive, which is usually a good thing. But at times, it disrupted how I envisioned the story. In the beginning, it took some time to get used to this writing style. Some events felt unnecessarily drawn out. Especially in chapters with high tension situations, dragging the sentences to explain the most minute things washed away some of the excitement. The writing style almost seems like a series of " And then this happened" going on in a loop, which put me off. Maybe the intention was to make it detailed and bring it alive in the reader's mind. But for me, allowing the reader to interpret the situations in their own way is crucial, and this writing style left little space for that.

All in all Mirrored Worlds by Tayma Tameem is a promising first installment. I would give it 2 out of 4 stars. The main reason being the writing style. Moreover, the plot was interesting but sadly predictable. The author emphasized too much on the points that could go awry that it felt obvious that they would. And as a first installment, there should've been more conflicts to resolve in the coming books. There is but one. Unfortunately, all of this amounted to a very watered-down reading experience for me.

But despite everything, the book deserves a read. I would recommend it to teen readers who have a taste for fantasy and adventure. Readers of W.J may, Dale Mayer and C.M.Owens will love this book. People who enjoy fantasy series and genres like romance and adventure should definitely give this book a chance.
