Review of Stolen Redemption
If you have lived in area known as the slums or estates where government had forgotten the locals, A place tagged 'not for decent people, you can relate well with this book. Drugs, Gang fights, prostitution, rape and illegal weeds consumption to say but a few are what you had expect to find in this kinds of 'ghettos'.
Adrian 'A' Powell is a guy whose only language was violence, and through that he could made his point known. [Alonso] showed us the life style and picture of what a black man goes through even when they try to prove their innocence. This book also talked about how a certain individual could predict the out come of particular incident, because the individual has a psychic talent that can read both bad and good omen. These capture both spiritual and philosophical Side.
In his book [Stolen Redemption], [Alonso] recorded details of How a corrupt inspector was able to get monthly payment from drug Lords and at the same time portray the good cop. What keep ringing in mind was how the hell will an inspector ride a S500 Mercedes Benz as his own car and The police never bother to investigate where he got such a money?, when they eventually did, I feel it was rather to late.
This was an interesting book to read but I felt [Alonso] never did allow justice to take full course for crimes that was committed by certain individuals in this book. Where did the corrupt inspector ended his life? Why did Adrian has to die like a chicken? Does he have to be killed by a younger brother of a someone Adrian had had encounter with?.
The book to gave a clear and vivid illustration of life in a cell and what happens inside a prison but I feel it fails to establish the possiblity of living a normal life after serving a prison sentence. Many characters were left behind not knowing what happen to them , Rain was never mention again, Cox friends who were with him was never mentioned too, how do you justify that it wasn't a murder?.
Reading through 383 pages of this book was interesting but as interesting as it was some details of the story were left out so I will only rate it as 3 out of 4. I feel a chapter should have been added to give a conclusive information about what happen to the inspector, willy and his Mum, Orla, Riley and most especially the man who ended the life of Powell.
The book seems professionally edited but in Page 271 there was an error ... 'You can go know' instead of 'you can go now'. There were certain coded language used in this book most especially during the conversation between Zico and Adrian which Zico gave the meaning during their conversation. This book contain some sexual content which may no be suitable for Under age readers. I recommend this book.
