[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a well-written children's book with a beautiful plot. It is written mostly in reported speech by the main character, Inca the self-acclaimed "top detective cat", who considers herself the leader of a team of animal detectives called Inca and Company. Their human mother, who is a chef and apparently a big animal lover, was chosen to be among the judges to give a verdict in a cookery competition in South Korea. She agreed to the offer and traveled to South Korea with her pet companions. Immediately they got off the plane, Inca and her team of detectives got the chance to solve their first case. Afterward, they were confronted with their main case of the trip and at some point contemplated crossing the border to North Korea.
This book was well thought out for a book of its genre and I liked the plot. The way each character was expressed was also a captivating trait of this book. The characters were unique with likable personalities - especially the main character, Inca. I also praise the fact that even though it is a children's book the plot was sophisticated enough to make it better than average.
This book was great to read and enough to keep the readers turning its pages. Try as I may, I could not find anything to complain about in the book.
I don't often read children's books except when I want to vet them before I recommend them to my younger siblings; however, this book has convinced me that it is worth recommending. The readers could also learn a thing or two about the places spoken about in the book. Having been very impressed with the book, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to children of all ages. I also recommend it to animal lovers(if you are an adult you might find it cute).
