Review of Voice of the Elders
Rohini is a smart and talented young lady who had always been curious and concerned about the global warming predicament of her planet. With so much hard work, she finds herself at the top, attending the United Nations Youth Assembly, a meeting which aimed at seeking ways to develop cleaner energy sources for the world, alongside other fine brains in the world. Amazingly, just at the beginning of the meeting, aliens from another world appear and reach out to the congress with a message that holds the promise of a potential solution to earth’s climate warming problem.
The aliens, who identified themselves as Elders asked earth’s leaders to choose representatives that would come to their world and learn about the proposed solution. Rohini happens to be one of the few people that the Elders specifically requested for. A major twist to the story occurs when Rohini is rescued from a near-kidnap incident. It becomes apparent that the idea of an energy crisis-free earth is not an idea that is welcomed by everyone.
Voice of the Elders is an interesting tale that presents a collection of different elements like science fiction, mystery, thriller, action, drama and suspense, all blended together. This is my first time of reading a book written by Greg Ripley and without a doubt, I can say that he is a very talented and prolific writer. I am very impressed at his ability to make an interesting story with unexpected twists from the issue of climate change.
I strongly appreciate that the book did not only present a story for entertainment, but it also awakens readers’ consciousness to the global warming predicament of our planet and the need to focus on developing energy sources that are healthier to the planet and to mankind. I think the book is very relevant and timely and it goes without saying that if we don’t act fast as a planet, then the effects will advance from bad to very bad and worse.
There was really nothing to dislike about the book. It was thoughtfully written. It is clear from the contents of the book that the writer knows his onions. Voice of the Elders is well structured and easy to understand. I like the fact that unlike most science fictions, the language used in this book is very simple and ambiguous terms are barely used. The book is also well edited. On these bases, I give Voice of the Elders a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to everyone, especially people that are drawn to earth and nature. However, people that are repelled by mystiques and stories about aliens may want to stay away from the book.
