Review of Speedy hurled through havoc
The things that I learned through this book is truly worth the read. Speedy Hurled Through Havoc by Dave Letterfly Knoderer is a book that shows the journey of the author's life. Growing up with a strict father shaped him to be a boy with so much curiosity about the world.
Like father, like son, Dave truly share the same interest as his father and by his nature, he pursued the path that his father could not take. In a way, the story brings comfort to me as I could relate to Dave young self. A young child with so much passion struggling to figure out what the future holds for us. Despite sharing the same interest, Dave still has a tough time connecting with his own father and I think this part shows the reality of the world.
Children seek validations from their own parents more than anyone else and growing up in a dysfunctional household can mess up someone's mindset. However, as Dave grow up and meeting new people he continuously learned and unlearned from the people he met while working out his dream.
It is a relief to know that some people actually managed to chase their dreams even though we live in a harsh world.
This autobiography discovers the transformation of life, from the sorrow and resentment of a young child to the bright and loving man that grows up under a series of influential people. The precise narrative and surprise plot give the reader excitement and hope for more good news. The way the author is not scared to share his dark past, the struggle of being an alcoholic truly inspiring. The hints he put through in every chapter reveal slowly how he struggled with alcohol and the reasons he turns that way can be a life lesson to others.
All the bits and information he shared with the readers are useful and can be applied in daily life. I think this book is very good for young adults as the information can give us the courage to take a few risks and just live life the way we want. Sometimes we just need a little push to move forward and sometimes all we need is a good book to be inspired and do better. Other than that, this book also teaches us to always appreciate and remember the help that we received from the people around us.
Although the book has a continuous storyline it would be more fun to read if there is not much-repeated scenes or flashbacks from certain situations as it can cause confusion for those who have trouble reading such lengthy text. Hence, I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to those who are struggling to figure out what to do in life or those who need the inspiration to take the risks in life.
