Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide was written by William H. Coles. It's a handbook needed by every upcoming writer to help them navigate the world of fiction writing. The book was divided into two parts. The Part One had twelve chapters, while the Part Two had five chapters. Each chapter was not long-winded but brief and very explanatory. A total of seventeen chapters and a hundred and twenty-eight pages. The first part clearly explains the numerous elements of literary fiction, while the second part advices writers on how to create a successful and intriguing fiction story.

The examples given in each chapter were relatable and could be put in practice when writing. I recall the example given about Red Riding Hood, the way it was put in different scenarios and forms to explain and illustrate the effectiveness of stories. It showed how the Red Riding Hood story could be understood if it was told in different ways, the same Red, the same woods, the same bear but a different narrative structure. The author took the time to illustrate or show how the Red Riding Hood story would be if Red wasn't the driver. That helped me to better understand the points the author was trying to make.

I liked how William H. Cole analyzed the different points of view, that is, the first person, the third person and the narrator's point of view. He explained how each point of view could impact the readers.

I chose this book to review because I write for fun and wanted to see ways I could make myself better. My expectations were met and I was completely satisfied. The book was concise. Straight to the point yet not in the least bit boring and tiresome. Reading this book was enlightening. I like the fact that a lot of terms in the book were broken down so that anyone can understand them. There were a lot of concepts in writing that I had not properly grasped before reading this book.

Another thing I liked was the author's style of writing. The flow was easy and understandable. Also, it was nice that the author took the time to explore different ways to write in different points of views. There was nothing I disliked about the book.

This is not a book I would recommend anyone into creative writing to miss out on. I found no grammatical error, and the book seemed to be professionally edited and proofread. I rate this book four out of four stars because it encompassed a lot of important and helpful knowledge in a few pages. I'm not rating it lower because it is indeed a useful guide for writers and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
