Legacy as written by Sean T Smith is a sic-fi novel and it's the first book in a series of books. It tells a story about how a mismatched group of individuals featuring a United States army Major, an astrophysicist, an alien who travelled from the future, an engineer, a geologist, a super whiz kid, a computer genius and a Director of the NRC joined forces together to save Earth and other planets from nuclear destruction by an alien turned human named Nwarht Va. On their nobel quest to save the universe from nuclear destruction the truth about the origin of homo sapiens was revealed and it turned out that homo sapiens were once aliens banished from their home planet as punishment and restitution. This perceived injustice and the subsequent death of his lover formed the basis of Nwarht Va's grudge and fueled his desire for revenge.

Legacy is a book riddled with tense and climatic events and the use of sarcasm and a quiet sense of humor which is prevalent among the characters helps to break the tension and create a breather for the reader. It also pulls the reader in and ignites the imagination of the reader by the effectual use of descriptive words to accurately describe the emotions and actions of the characters.

However, the constant use of scientific terms makes it difficult for a layman to grasp the meaning of what is being said by the characters. Also, the repetition of events makes the book predictable and at times boring for the reader. Although, it is quite understanble that it's the first book in a series and the author is trying to introduce the characters and bring them up to speed on the situation of things. However, in his quest to inform and introduce the characters, events were repeated over and over again, thus eroding spontaneity.

Legacy is a properly edited book. The use of simple English to describe the characters and events makes it a good read. However, the constant use of scientific terms without provision of further explanation makes it a bit cumbersome and difficult to understand fully. Thus I rate this book two out of four stars.

Legacy is a book suitable for readers who are interested in sci-fi novels and also have preliminary knowledge of physics, artificial intelligence, geology and molecular biology. Such knowledge would make it easier for them to understand and enjoy the novel.
