Chasing The Red Queen is a well-written sci-fi/fantasy book written by Karen Glista. The book has 41 chapters included the prologue, about the author, and the acknowledgments.

The author narrates the journey of Donja Bellanger after the death of her father and how she and her family rebuild their lives. It all starts when her mother takes a new husband, and as a consequence, Donja is forced to move to a new strange city. Things get worst when Donja is forced to share a room with her new stepsister, Makayla Hampton, an event that twists the story for complete, but not everything was as bad as Doja thought. Thanks to her stepsister Doja meets the handsome Torin Mancini, who started falling for her or her blood, but there is someone else who would kill for Doja’s blood and not in a romantic sense.

I liked Doja's character because she is real. How she acts and thinks is so common in teenagers that have lived what she did. The way of affronting having a new family is just real. I got in touch with her character. Meanwhile, Tori's character is that typical sexy elder man that we all love, how he is described makes me think that he is so hot and the way he loves Doja is cute and electric.

I liked the character’s development. At the beginning of the book, the author took the time to give us a little feedback on each character and how they influence Doja’s life. The author starts narrating romance scenes in the middle of the book. On the other hand, I do not know if I liked the development of Tori’s and Doja’s love story because as soon as they meet each other everything, seems to be in a rush and, from my point of view, is very unreal and force.

The book is written in the third-person perspective, so there were times in which I got lost because I didn’t remember the names of the characters, and they called them by their name. For example, they said the name of the mother, instead of saying, mom or brother. Also, some chapters are narrated, from Tori’s point of view, it was so confusing for me to discover who was talking, but as the book advance, you begin recognizing the way each character expresses themselves, making it easier.

There have violence, nudity, and graphic scenes, so I don’t recommend this book for people above their 16s. I saw two grammatical mistakes, but I do not know if they were mistakes or I saw them like that because I am not a native speaker.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because overall, it is a well-edited story. Also, the story is very coherent and well developed, taking into account that fantasy books are hard to write, and those aspects make the book addictive. I would recommend this book to everyone that likes romance stories in which their love is "dangerous". Also, I would recommend this book to those readers who like mystery, drama, and action books.
