Review of Rulers of the Galaxy

[Following is a volunteer review of "Rulers of the Galaxy" by Tayma Tameem.]
The monarchs of the elementals gather their people to celebrate the birth of the newly born prince. The elementals have ruled over the Or galaxy for thousands of decades. One of the factors that has seen to their successful reign for this long is their terrifying magic, not a single race in the Or galaxy has been able to stand up to it. With a general that is desperate and hungry for power in their lead, the imperials attack the elementals amid their ceremony. All this in a bid to end the royal blood line and take control over the galaxy. Salarin wakes up to an aftermath of the war. She sees bodies all over the ground but cannot remember what had happened, all she knows about herself is her name. Salarin spots a baby left all alone near the battle field, but before she can think of anything, she finds herself fighting Imperial soldiers and makes it to an escape pod. She lands on planet Elventar where she meets Bosco the raider. Salarin sets out to find the parents of the baby and also find out more about herself, or perhaps she could be on a bigger mission than she thought. Does Salarin find the parents of the baby? Tayma Tameem gets you aboard her craft of imagination and takes you into the world of fantasy with her book Rulers of the Galaxy. This is an absolutely great piece of work. Tameem's choice of words is very good. She uses fairly long sentences and very appropriate expressions. I find the dialogues very entertaining, they make the Rulers of the Galaxy lively and very engaging. Tameem has an ingenious way of expressing her humor. Reading through the book, I occasionally found myself laughing effortlessly at her humor and sarcasm.
The characters are depicted vividly and uniquely. Tameem writes about her characters in a way that it is easy to connect with them. The reader will develop a strong bond with Rulers of the Galaxy's characters and this will serve to help understand why certain characters make the choices they make, why they see things the way they do or why they have certain thoughts. This will also make some characters adorable while others, the most loathed. For instance, I love Salarin because she is a strong and intelligent woman. You can sense her strength by the determination she shows in everything she does. When she meets Bosco, the brief conversation they have and Tameems explanation of the actions that take place say much about Salarin's strength.
The plot of Rulers of the Galaxy is thrilling, enthralling and entertaining. But one thing I didn't like about the plot, or perhaps Tameem's style of writing was how she kept going back and forth in the scenes in the story. This made the book quite hard to follow at times. However, this did not make me miss out in comprehending the plot and enjoying the magnificent story. Perhaps you will find this style she uses more appealing than annoying.
I did not find any error in the Rulers of the Galaxy, the book was exceptionally and professionally edited. Enthusiasts of science fiction with a touch of adventure and action will love this book. Although her style of writing in this book did not quite appeal to me, I overally enjoyed the book and that is why I will rate it 3 out of 4 stars.
