Review of E M P Honeymoon
Kelly and Tom Turbulo are a newly wedded couple honeymooning in Honduras. The couple takes on individual activities for the day to enjoy the sunny day. Kelly goes on an excursion around the city, and she misses her tour bus while engrossed in choosing gifts. While looking for the store clerk, Kelly stumbles upon a lab hidden behind the shop. The screens are showing some vital information regarding her homeland's security. Along with the help of three other Americans as a team of five, it's in their hands to stop whatever sinister plan brewing against their homeland.
EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Macer is an action-packed, fast-paced novel. Macer is a prolific writer. And she has done a good job of weaving a story from her research.
The story unfolds through several characters. Every time there's a perspective change, the author alerts the reader. That makes it very easy to follow the characters. The action starts almost immediately. Ms Macer did a good job of keeping the reader hooked to the book from the very start.
The characters are well developed and original. They have their own personalities that markedly contrast. The characters also felt very relatable and real with how the author gave tidbits of their thoughts. The story was even more interesting for me with characters like Sue-Lin and DL. Sue-Lin is a foreigner and, seeing how she reacts to the new place even with her training was enjoyable. Macer shows a bit of how a dictatorship works. And how some people are so ignorant of the workings of technology that they can are easily fooled.
I also liked the chapter devoted to Dr. Peter Kenny's interview. That supplies the reader with ample information to progress through the rest of the story. And Dr. Peter Kenny's interview also sheds some light on how a country can be attacked in a very unexpected and powerful way making them vulnerable. Macer also provides various instances of technology usages in espionage. The story has some innuendos as the story also has a bit of romance. But, none of them is graphic enough to disturb any readers.
I reviewed the audible version of the book. Although it's my first experience with audible, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The narrator alternates the voices according to the character and the situation. Since I've reviewed an audible version, I cannot say anything about the grammar issues of the book. There was nothing I disliked about this book. I rate this 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to those who enjoy fast-paced and light-hearted action story.
