This epic novel revolved around Azuki, a Toki, and her brother Shota, the sparrow-boy. Shota lived with their human uncle and guardian, Yuta Sensei after their parents were murdered. When Azuki became sick, no one could figure out the cause or treatment for her illness. Shota went in search of a cure for his sister's illness. He embarked on a search for the crane girl, who bears answers to the complexities of the adult life of a dual-nature being.

The Toki-Girl and the Sparrow-Boy Book 3: Together by Claire Youmans is a sensational story about dual-nature creatures who found out they can live as both humans and animals. This story was set within Japanese culture and filled with fantasies and adventures.

Though this book is the third in the series, it is a stand-alone work that the reader can understand without feeling like you are missing a piece of the story. The author's use of descriptive words and good vocabulary makes the book a masterpiece. The flow of words makes the book easy to read and enjoyable. The book allows you to expand the horizon of your imagination and helps you to experience Japanese culture.

I loved the character of Azuki and her giftedness. She is endowed with the ability to weave exquisite fabrics by using the advantage of being a Toki. Yuta was another unforgettable character. He helped the siblings balance their dual nature by teaching them human ways while also expressing their animal nature. The fantastic learning journey from Yuta caused the dual creatures to enjoy their lives both as humans and animals, free to express themselves as they wished or saw fit. Another character I found fascinating was Renko, the dragon princess. Her act of bravery and courage was incredible. She showed a great example of loyalty and friendship.

The book conveyed lessons about peace, mutual understanding, tolerance, and selflessness. I found it very entertaining and educational. Any ardent reader of thrilling novels would thoroughly enjoy this book. What fascinated me the most was the author's inclusion of a great dose of Japanese culture — the recipes, lifestyle, and many more. It was a rollercoaster ride from start to end.

The Toki-Girl and the Sparrow-Boy Book 3: Together is a novel I thoroughly relished. I didn't dislike anything about the book. The errors in the book aren't enough to fault it. Therefore, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to children and lovers of fiction laced with adventure.
