Review of Mirrored Worlds
Intertwining adventure and politics in a fun and intriguing manner is a work describing Mirrored Worlds by Tayma Tameem.
The universe always works to balance itself in times of crisis. A parallel world, Earth, was discovered deep down in the bowels of Reath through a mysterious mirror that serves as a barrier between both worlds. Although similarly in history and developments, a distinguishing factor which describes Reath is the magic the world posses. Unlike Earth, Reathians uses magic for their everyday life, but trouble arises when a non-magical child is born on Reath. This caused events that are not supposed to happen and is rapidly becoming a worldwide crisis. To contain this, the bureau sent a team of three into the most dangerous civilization in Reath, Opar. Battleaxe, the mighty giant who had seen the horrors of war and lived to tell the tale. Lila, the amateur freshly out of the academy with good grades and high potential. Then an elf, Graute, the efficient smuggler. What would this team of misfits achieve in the limited time they have? What if they don't make it? Now that the world depends on them, how well will they cooperate?
I wouldn't have loved Mirrored Worlds more, the fast-paced plots, the action packed adventure, the political implications. It is an awesome read. The author, Tayma Tameem did not only grab my attention, she seized it right from the first chapter of the book up till the end. The descriptions, the scenarios, the events; everything just seem to fall in place as though I were watching a live theater performance. And the realism of the story doesn't only add to the already seasoned book, it compels the reader to 'not-drop-the-book'.
My only issue with Mirrored Worlds is its lack of suspense. Right from the beginning of the adventure, I could almost tell exactly what would happen and where it will. Although Tayma did try to compensate that with writing an error free book.
It's not everyday one encounters a book that touches the very depth of one's desire for pure adventure. Because Mirrored Worlds did that (at least to me). Therefore, a full four out of four stars is the least I can do to express my love for the book (even though it is not a stand-alone).
For the benefit of the readers, this book contains no such thing as gruesome violence, erotic scenes neither does it affect any religious beliefs. It is suitable for any reader in search for an adventurous sci-fi novel.
