Review of How To Be Successful
How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader by M. Curtis McCoy is a book about productive daily habits, positive attitudes and mindsets and inspirational interviews with different inspiring people. This book shares the top tips and habits to achieve real success, not just monetary success, but internal success as well. It shares advice from real-life entrepreneurs and successful people through interviews and conversations. It also shares the author’s experience as a man who turned all his weaknesses and vulnerabilities to strengths and success. The book shares what most people don’t know; how to obtain and preserve success and happiness, while keeping sane and not overworking yourself.
This book achieved its purpose in terms of being inspirational and motivational and providing realistic tips and habits that anyone no matter where in life or what age can manage to do. One especially nice thing that the author did was include interviews with people from different backgrounds and different positions in life. This provided variety in experiences and sources of information, and a sense of credibility. From Caujuan Mayo to Nathan Schulhof, these were all people whom we read their input on this topic. Another positive note is that the language that the book is written in is easy to understand and follow, and the writer doesn’t use complicated words to discuss the topics. I also liked the choice of the habits and tips in this book as they were achievable, and include all aspects of life without focusing on one aspect without the other. The author also explained each point and provided ways in which we can apply the tips in our own life. One thing that I appreciate is the book recommendations that the interviews offer, they are a great way to provide more resources. And last but not least I appreciate that the author included studies done in various places and universities, as it creates trust between the reader and the author.
There is only one negative point that I would like to address in this book. I felt that there were some points that were repeated more than once unnecessarily and without any importance. I wish that there was more variety in the tips and topics instead of just repeating the same tips in different ways.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The style of writing in this book is convincing and motivating, and I can say that at the end, the book accomplished its purpose. The interviews and studies added to the value of the book, and the language was easy to understand. The book was well edited as well without any type errors.
I recommend this book for both females and males age 18 to 40, because it is a great read for young people who are starting out on their journey of self-discovery, and for people who are established but want a great motivational read on success and life improvement.
