The Mystery of Flight 2222 is a thriller novel written by Thomas Neviaser. It tells us the story of Frank Mason and Helen Hampton who happen to have their seats next to each other on Air USA Flight 2222 to Argentina. To spend their time, they decided to play a game which involves guessing the names of seven other passengers in the plane and imagining what kind of life they lead. However, the flight never arrived at Argentina and crashed in the sea. Only nine individuals survived - Frank, Helen and the seven people who were a part of their game. What lied ahead of them were things none of them ever imagined even in their worst of nightmares.

The positive aspects of the book is that the author has done justice to the book by calling itself a thriller. Firstly, the ending could not have been predicted in any manner. Secondly, the story was progressing at just the right pace with a good carry. It did not feel flat or boring at any page. Thirdly, it does throw light on certain psychological aspects of human beings. The characters came from different backgrounds and, hence, the manner in which they dealt with their circumstances varied. This variation has been portrayed quite elegantly by the author.

With regards to the negative aspects of the book, I was not able to find many. The only thing about the book regarding which I have mixed feelings is the epilogue. The epilogue very explicitly states why the characters ended up in such a situation and attributing things to "karma". The manner in which the justification is given could have been made in a subtler fashion and not in such an explicit way. The reader is, in a way, deprived of the creative imagination as to why things happened in such way. Then again, keeping things explicit gives more clarity to the story and hence, the message is easily understood.

After reading this book, I would confidently rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The book has been very well edited and there were not any grammatical mistakes that I could spot. The carry was great and not the least bit boring. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is into thriller novels and is able to handle mature content. The profanity used is minimal, however it does include gore elements which some may find uncomfortable. Secondly, this book may also pique the interest of those who feel like getting a glimpse of the thinking patterns of people stuck in desperate situations. Thirdly, this book will most definitely be loved by people who believe in "what goes around comes around".
