Review of The Stolen Heir
Two head mages; Mal and Jeofrn set out to fulfill a prophecy supposedly left by the spirits who forged their continent, Krasoria. They decide to steal a newly born heir to the throne by the name of Erik, said to be one of the strongest in history as far as magic is concerned. The heir is to live in pain and suffering only then can be a true king. Series of events unfold when the baby goes missing. Both the kingdoms; Paleria where the biological mother originates from and Thumeria where the biological father originates from declare war on each other as suspicions on who stole the child arise. This is a war that killed millions and rendered Erik an orphan who later turned into a street kid after claiming the only parents he knew and the house he grew in burnt down by the Thumerian soldiers. He later finds out he is of royal blood and has to save the continent by ending the war and uniting the people.
The foster parents to the heir do all they can to support him and treat him as their own, giving him all the love a child needs and deserves. Jacop and Bekka are the epitome of good parents; they are poor but that does not stop them from providing for their child. Erik whose birth name is Dracan decides to take help from Jeofrn inorder to understand and control his powers even though he trusts him not but understands that only he is capable of helping him. Despite all hurdles faced by the Madregals they try by all means to ensure the boy is safe from his evil uncle who wants him dead.
Focusing is a bit challenging as The Stolen heir has numerous characters making it complex, one often forgets a certain character and their significance at some point.
The story is about a heir's journey to the throne. Taken away and deprived of royalty but getting his foster parent's love at the early stages of his life. This novel is magic-bound therefore good for the reader who likes to delve into magic and fiction irregardless of age.
Tayma Tameem portrayed a good overview of royalty and the problems brought forth by it such as having to give birth to a heir that will be a great leader, possess certain traits and pass on traditions from generation to generation. Clearing the myth that royals had all glitz and glamour in their lives. This novel is well written, astonishing and with characters believable to the core. The writer did an awesome job. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is relatable to the challenges faced by many people and proves that no matter how bad life can be there is always a ray of light at the end of a tunnel, one just needs to stay strong.
