Have you struggled to make ends meet? Have you experienced so much failure that you can't remember the last time you experienced a breakthrough? Do you want to succeed? If you answered yes to these questions then How to be successful by M. Curtis McCoy is the right book for you.

It is everyone's heart desire to succeed in life and as a matter of fact, no one likes to be associated with failure. In this book M. Curtis McCoy shares his advice and tips on how to build a successful life and career. As a survivor of brain cancer, McCoy shares the story of his journey to the top after he lost most of what he had acquired in the process of saving himself from the cancer.

Through the interviews and personal stories, he hopes to guide future entrepreneurs on the path of actualizing success in every aspect of their human endeavor.

The themes that were manifested through the stories and illustrations given in this book are the themes of hope, dedication, laziness and the consequences attached, hard work and self examination.

The book was written in an interview format and the language and style were easy to understand. The plot of the book was properly developed as each action were arranged in a relatable manner.

What I loved best about the book was it inspiring nature. The author made mention of him being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 27 months and then brain cancer at age 27. Despite these things, he worked hard to succeed, he did not see himself as one who was going to die anytime soon and put his best in all he did.

His story really inspired me never to give up until I leave this world. Another thing I liked about the book was it's simple structure. The author made a conscious effort to keep his grammar as simple as it can be as I did not encounter strange words through my read.

Lastly, I loved the knowledge passed on, particularly the lessons learnt from the book. On one of his illustrations, he said "work like it is up to you and pray like it is up to God". I found this statement very useful and I will hold on to it.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was that some information which needed further elaboration were not elaborated. For example, he made mention of the pains he suffered during his struggle with cancer bit I would have loved to know how he coped with it alongside his work. Whether he quit work for a while or combined it and also the exact steps he took then that strengthened him. He also made mention of how he had owned many companies before he clocked 30 but his steps were undisclosed throughout the book.

The book seems to be professional edited as I could not spot any mistake. Also it was passing real life guides and not some bunch if theories, this is seen into the interviews. I give it 4 stars out of 4 stars because of its error free and realistic nature.
I would recommend it to everyone looking to succeed in their area of human endeavor particularly the businessmen and women.
