Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War by Dorothy May Mercer is an intriguing novel that is full of drama spiced with romantic episodes. Cynthia Patterson’s cover up job is being a receptionist. Her real job is Chief of Security for Senator McBride. Cynthia together with her brother Glenn, a Private Investigator purposed to fight terrorists with everything they have, including hiring two college students well versed in computers. Miss Patterson suggested that they also recruit her boyfriend Dan McIntyre. Washington D.C was put on lockdown when a drone crashed on the White House lawn. Cynthia was caught up in traffic jam until a charming and mysterious man, Sky offered to help her. Cynthia has to make a choice between Sergeant McIntyre and her newly found crush, Sky.

The most appealing fact about this book is that it keeps the reader on the edge of their sit. The book has well-articulated plots such that it’s hard not to finish reading it in one sitting. From the beginning, the mind is teased with what may be causing the traffic jam in Washington D.C. A mysterious man, Sky appears on the scene. He seems to be well connected and has modern technology at his disposal. He is so charming that he swept Cynthia off her feet. The book has the drone mystery carried through to the end. The book is full of suspense, the reader keeps on wandering on what will happen to Cynthia, if she was in some sort of danger.
Another thing I like about this book is that the romantic part is unpredictable. It was not a cliché synonymous with novels where there will be bumpy relationships with happy endings. The writings on health, including abortion and contraceptives is also a positive in this book.

There was nothing I did not like about the book. It is cosy, suspenseful and intriguing. However, I do think that a little work can be done on the cover: make it look a bit more professional and imposing.

Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War is exceptionally written and I give it 4 out of 4 stars. The plot is intriguing and unpredictable. Scenes are vividly described. It is appealing to both genders, having fused cyber war and romance together.

This book may interest a wide spectrum of audience especially computer nerds, tech junkies and those who like romantic novels, therefore I recommend it to same. Conservatives may find it a little controversial.
