A story filled with consorts and ancient spirits, lives a girl named Donja Bellanger and how she discovered that the land she lives on runs deeper in her roots than she ever knew.

The novel Chasing The Red Queen written by Karen Glista, follows a young teenager, Donja Bellanger who's mother has remarried which requires them to move away from everything she has known. Now in a new town, a new mansion in the middle of nowhere, she is skeptical of the move and misses home but with a new sister to battle everything with her, she sees hope for the future.

But the town her family has moved to, has secrets and one of them is a deadly spirit that is responsible for many chippewa  deaths of young girls and one night this spirit comes across Donja and because she is a descendant from a very rare lineage, she is considered valuable and thus the chase of the red queen begins.

With the help of her family and her consort Iridescent and affiliate, Torrin Mancini, she has to overcome many obstacles, many emotions that are triggered by her finally knowing her heritage, by her being kidnapped and being tormented. A great battle awaits her and her loved ones as they seek help from all over to save the world from a danger they know not off.

The book follows the idea of ancestral religious belief and the idea of love and what it truly means to be in love, Iridescent or not, mortal or immortal, our heart beats the same.

The story is very inviting, captivating and the history lesson keeps building up, you learn more and more with each chapter. The emotions are realistic even if the environment, supernatural, isn't. The characters are relatable and the development of relationships between them is also good.

The book would be recommended to individuals who are familiar with the Twilight novels, it has similar aspects. This recommendation would go to readers who are into vampires and love learning the different ways vampires were created. Basically if a reader has read the Twilight novels or Interview with a vampire then this book is for them.

I give the book a rating of 3 out of 4, because I believe a book is never perfect and that there's always a need for improvement somewhere, even if it is small, like the typo error in the Hampton Manor Chapter on page 32 where the quotation punctuation was used. Thus a rating of 3 out of 4.
