The Price of Dreams by Jerry A. Greenberg starts with a young man John Dolan, who's an art student at the University of Texas. With life passing him by while being engrossed in his artwork, falling behind on his social life. That came to a halt when a bubbly girl named Amy changed that up. Amy is constantly redirecting John's focus from his artwork to her and breaking him out of his shell. With the pressure of marriage from Amy, John tied the knot. Shortly after conceiving two kids, struggling to make ends meet. They say starving artists for a reason. With their children being all grown up, Amy began to grapple, ultimately leading to a tragedy.

John began rebuilding his life the way he saw fit. Breaking out of his shell again, but this time on his terms. After a wild night out with a neighbor, he comes in contact with an old girlfriend from college. Uncovering the truth about his relationship with Amy and rediscovering what love and the meaning of independence means to him. All the while with his furry best friend by his side.

The tempo of this book flowed in harmony. I liked how Jerry A. Greenberg brought real-life nuances into this book. Such as what independence means when it comes to relationships and how to overcome this. I also enjoyed the philosophical points of this book challenges you to think deeper.

I adored this book so much that I found no negative aspects to it at all. Everything was very well thought out and put together perfectly. From the beginning to the end of the book, there was never a dull moment in John's life, whether the moment was good or bad. I was very amused by his furry friend, Commander.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. The Price of Dreams is a relatable book in most aspects. It was short and sweet but with many plot twists that took place in John's life. The relationship between John and his old girlfriend was very engaging. With every dark moment, there was always light that followed.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a feel-good story. The age range recommended is anyone that is a young adult to someone in their mid 40's. There are many lessons to relate to whether you are fresh out starting college or deep into your 9-5. You should add this one to your library.
