There and Back There Again by Andrew Alsup is a collection of short essays about the author’s experiences in life. He explained his auditory hallucinations which made him hear voices he did not wish to hear. The voices lured him into doing things he did not want to do and falsely predicted the nature of other people. The author called that squeaky voice ‘Chipmunk’ and that voice kept him on edge.

The author also explains how psychic intrusion was destroying his privacy. He also mentioned that he wanted an amendment in the constitution for the protection of his privacy. The author also made it known that he was being mentally harassed by people. He mentions himself as a ‘lion’ and tells us that he is not afraid of anyone.

The author has done a great job describing his problems. The deep insight into the story of David and Goliath is appreciable. Also, the author’s essays at the end were the most interesting part of the book. The essays in which he talked about his pets were really amazing and kept me engaged. The author very beautifully described how people were not there with him when he needed them the most. I could feel what he would have gone through and sympathized with him. The addition of poems increased my interest, too.

The book is more like a report, with the absence of an index, a foreword, or even a cover page. I would have liked it more if it would have been more professional and appealing. The beginning of the book was really confusing and I almost lost my interest at the start. There were a few extra indents, but that didn’t affect my reading that much because they were not frequent. Other than that, I could not find any noticeable flaws in the book.

My favorite part of the book was when the author mentioned Edgar Allan Poe and his style of writing. Poe’s thoughts behind the creation of his famous work ‘Raven’ were also mentioned, which made me interested in that essay even more.

I would not consider this book professionally edited as I found quite a lot of errors in the book. So, keeping the errors and the lack of professionalism in mind, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to people who are interested in reading something out-of-the-box. The book has frequent use of profanity, so I would not recommend this book to people sensitive to it.
