How much of an important part of their life is one willing to shut out in order to pursue their dreams? John Dolan the main character of this book-The price of Dreams, shut out almost everything in his life all in the name of art. He had had a passion for art since at a tender age, drawing on walls, and got into trouble for it. His love for art grew with him all the way to university, he loved it more than anything and anyone. He was too focused on his art that it obstructed him from his real world, so much to the extent that he entered into a loveless marriage with Amy Bell who was also a major in art at his university, they married and had children. Amy eventually died, and now with John and Amy's children all grown up and living a life of their own, they decided to gift their father with a dog to keep him company. For the first time in his life, he had a loving relationship with something other than his art. As time passes he is finally reunited with an ex-girlfriend Sharon Miller, whom he dated before his late wife Amy. They seemed to click together, more than he ever did with Amy. Is there a chance of love? For the longest of time he had only had love in his heart for his art, later on his dog, but is there space for him to love Sharon?

What I liked about the story is how the author- Jerry A. Greenberg is able to throw in some humor and jokes around with his characters. Of the few really funny characters is the ever so grumpy, retired philosopher Harold Thornton, who's John's only next door neighbor, and Olga the masculine masseuse/horse chiropractor.

The only thing I did not like is that I felt the story quickly ended before I could get a glimpse of what life was going to be like with John and Sharon together.

I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars only because of the reason I mentioned in the above paragraph, otherwise overall it was a good book.

I would recommend this book for the laid back type of people and who like a little bit of romance mixed with a bit of comedy.
