John Love and Marjorie plan to only raise their two children and not add another one. But fate has it that Marjorie is pregnant again. The couple had totally not planned for this. Marjorie delivers a baby boy who is named Randy. From a young age, Randy was a charm and an adorable kid. John even thought Randy would taken after him and become a reputable salesman like he was. The Love children were accomplished scholars. Harriet the eldest and James the second born were university graduates. Contrast to his older siblings, Randy decides to drop out of university and tries to find a job. At the age of twenty four, Randy is a handsome, selfish conceited lad with an outstanding lacking in common sense. S M Goodier tells of his protagonist's life as he progressively transitions from a manipulative and cunning young man to a responsible adult in the book Randy the Irresistible, in the most humorous way. The book is an absolutely epic British comedy.

S M Goodier exhibits a good grasp in the professional style of writing. His ideas flow steadily and he maintains a fair pace in the plot of the book. His choice of words is great. He has a rich set of vocabularies for Randy the Irresistible. S M Goodier's sentences are well structured and fairly long, they are easy to read and comprehend.

The characters in Randy the Irresistible are depicted very uniquely and with vivid clarity. S M Goodier's picturesque description serve to highlight his characters' traits. For instance, Randy's description leaves an image in my head of an irresistibly handsome young man. People literally want to associate with him just because of his looks. He gets random favors and women of all ages throw themselves at him. Randy is so used to this kind of attention that he is convinced he needs no one, he does not appreciate true friendship because he has never experienced it. As Randy learns how to be self dependent, he gets to learn important life lessons. His sister Harriet and brother James play a significant role in his transition process.

While some characters were well introduced into the story, some characters were randomly brought into the story. I mean, You could be reading then out of nowhere S M Goodier mentions the name of a character without any kind of introduction. This, with the fact that the book has more than a handful of characters made it quite hard for me to keep track of these characters. But despite this, I still loved that S M Goodier put great effort in shaping out some of his characters' personalities. You can easily connect with individual characters in their various scenes and to some extent feel their emotions. Even though you will have labelled their personalities as good or bad, you will empathize and sympathize with them whenever it's clear they are mistreated. But one thing is for sure, with all his foolishness, ignorance and arrogance, you will fall for Randy's charm.

I love S M Goodier's sense of humor. I found myself effortlessly and genuinely laughing at his humor. For instance, the scene when Mrs. Edna storms into the Love household furious at them for letting their dog wonder around her garden and lawns. From what she says, it was not the first time for the dog to drop its waste in her garden, and neither was it the first time to have an angry Mrs. Edna at their doorstep furiously ranting about the dog. John's reaction is very funny. And after that scenario, John tries to fix the place between his fence and Mrs. Edna's fence where he thinks the dog finds a way out of his compound, if what he does does not prove him to be the worst neighbor one would wish to have, then he is genuinely a funny neighbor. You should read the book to know exactly what happened.

I did not find anything to dislike about Randy the Irresistible. I did not find any errors in the book, it is exceptionally and professionally edited. Enthusiasts of comedy, fiction books with a touch of romance will love Randy the Irresistible. Because of the romantic scenes S M Goodier captures in his book, I recommend it to a much mature audience. I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. I have taken away the one star because of poor character development for some characters.
