The Price Of Dreams is a book about staying focused in one’s dream and pursuing one’s dream until one finally becomes content with what they have. The author, Jerry A. Greenberg did a wonderful job by putting a piece like this together. John Dolan never kept his eyes off his dream to become an artist. From a tender age, he embraced his calling into arts and pursued it till the end. He loved his work so much that he didn’t allow anything or anyone to dissuade him from reaching his goal. At college he met a girl, Sharon Miller, who wanted him to spend time with her and get to know her well. Although he could love her, he couldn’t bring himself to loving and being loved. He saw building a relationship as a waste of precious time which will eventually hinder his pursuance for his dream. Sharon on the other hand was more conservative and knew exactly what she wanted in a man. She watched Amy Bell, an impulsive college student just like her sweep the love of her life away. Amy never loved John as much as she claimed. She forced herself into John’s life and made him marry her. It was when their children, Meridith and Dave, left home for college that the real challenges in their marriage escalated. Amy loved her role as a mother and she did quite a good job at that. So when her children left her, she became idle and felt empty with no one to love, scold and care for. When she finally got a pet cat, she transferred all her love towards the cat until they multiplied in number. Her love for the cats caused her untimely death resulting in John becoming a widower. He came to understand how his independence was dear to him and decided not to compromise his freedom and independence again. He had time to work on his arts and bettered his career. Coincidentally, John got reunited with Sharon and both fell in love again. Sharon did not jump in all at once because she didn’t want their past to repeat itself. Later she saw how John had transformed because of his relationship with his pet dog. Commander. She knew that things may work out this time around. Having been friends and studied each other for some time, they decided to take their relationship to the next stage. They committed to each other not compromising on each other’s independence. They threw a party to celebrate their august commitment and union.

I love the fact that Jerry A. Greenberg stayed on the title The Price Of Dreams from beginning to end. John never deviated from his dream to become an artist. From his tender age, not even his mom could disrupt him. He remained focused from the beginning to the end. I also enjoyed the diverse description of nature used the story. This created vivid pictures in my imagination and felt as if I were the artist. I loved reading the story a lot.

What I didn’t like about The Price Of Dreams were the numerous typing errors. I counted more the ten typing mistakes and I think that proof reading and editing if done excellently would have made the book top notch. Moreover, although the Jerry A. Greenberg used the first person narrative, there were instances in the novel where the characters presented issues in another's perspective having not witnessed it or being told.

“I rate this book three out of four stars ”. This is because of the typing errors and spelling mistakes. Some so trivial that it could have been avoided.

I recommend this book to a stay home man or woman, a housewife, someone who is likely to spend more time in or at the hospital, young men and ladies in colleges to enjoy a good novel while learning something important as staying true to your calling or career until each and every dream is attained.
