The Fourth Kinetic: Clairvoyants
By: Brady Moore

The Fourth Kinetic of the Clairvoyants series by Brady Moore is about 17-year-old Rion Grean. He was born with special abilities as a kinetic which is a subgroup of Clairvoyants. He lived with his mother moving from place to place until they were separated. Now looking for his mother Rion must learn to survive meeting other Clairvoyants who help him learn and grow. With these new allies, he makes it a goal to find his mother and get answers to secrets that have long been kept.

There were many things I liked about this book. It had a nice slow start that slowly built until it reached the main conflict. Once it had hit the main conflict the books speed started to increase. The characters were incredibly likable and were presented as more than just two-dimensional beings meant to be a plot device. This made it incredibly hard to pick a favorite. If I had to pick it would be the character named Leo. However, that is mostly because he falls into one of my favorite archetypes. There were moments where you think you have it figured out only to be surprised on a small detail you might have missed from the start, despite it being in your face the entire time. All these details come together to make it a great young adult book filled with adventure, action, and Syfy.

There were not a lot of details I disliked about this book. If I were to get nitpicky, the slow burn was slower than I would have liked. I would have liked the book to be longer as well. Some characters did aggravate me with their attitudes, but that could be wrapped up with them being hormonal teenagers who believe they know everything at the time. Sometimes events did get confusing, which could be wrapped up to it being from the point of view of a scared confused teenager though as the book is written in the first person. There were some details that I did not care for however, they are very small and nitpicky. One of the details I really disliked was the relationship between Rion and his mother. It felt like he would excuse her behavior repeatedly. This, however, is still me being Nitpicky as the way it was written was very realistic.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I highly recommend this book. This book would be suitable for those who like action-adventure and fantasy overall. It gave me very Percy Jackson vibes when reading it which overflowed me with Nostalgia from my childhood. This is a book I look forward to reading not only again but more from the series.

The Fourth Kinetic: Clairvoyants by Brady Mooredeserves this rating due to how well written and thought out it was. It felt like I was seeing things through the eyes of a confused scared teenager. I could feel the emotions the characters felt. The grammar was wonderfully written, even when it came to the purposeful slang used. The book was able to laugh at itself while taking it seriously when needed. The characters were so realistic. The only reason I am not rating it higher was for my little Nitpicks.
