Review of Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living, Guaranteed (Almost)
Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living, Guaranteed (Almost) by Purandar A. Amin is, as the name suggests, a compact book on how to live a fearless and stress-free life. This book is an insight into how the brain works and how does our thoughts affect our surroundings.
The 21 chapters of the book provide us with lessons needed to live a better life. The chapters are in the form of the author’s letters to his wife, Uma. Amin teaches us virtues like forgiveness and love and explains why surrendering is not bad. Also, the author explains the power of love and how love is different from attachment. He also explains the ill-effects of ego and how to get rid of it.
Why do we feel stressed? How to get rid of it? How to keep anger in check? How to control your emotions instead of being controlled by them? Read this book to find the answers to all these questions.
The author has done a great job explaining the life lessons. The short chapters did not let my interest decrease and enhanced my understanding of the topics. The exercises and action plans made me practically experience the author’s teachings. Also the area for notes after every exercises increased my interest even more. The ‘points to remember’ section after every chapter made the concepts more clear and kept me hooked to the book till the very end.
My favourite part of the book was when the author explains the character of the watchman and that of his mother. I found their simplicity and purity very captivating. They were devoid of greed and were content with what they had.
The author explains the concept of past lives and past karmas, which creeped me out a little bit but did not decrease my interest in the book. There were a few extra indents but that did not affect my reading experience that much because they were not frequent. Other than that, I could not find any noticeable flaws in the book.
The book was well-edited as I found only two grammatical errors in the book. So, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend this book to people who are going through rough times as this book would motivate and inspire them. This book is recommended to anyone who wants to live a better life. Some of the suggestions in this book did confront traditional religious beliefs but the approach was secular.
