[Following is a volunteer review of "Chasing The Red Queen" by Karen Glista.]
An incredible, mesmerizing, and enjoyable book! Karen Glista managed to capture my attention throughout the entire book. I found myself reading until the early hours of the morning, just because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, and I'm happy that I decided to read romance instead of my usual fantasy/ sci-fi books.
At first, I thought this was just another vampire romance book, but I was totally wrong. Chasing The Red Queen is about a young girl Donja, who gets heartbroken by her first love, Kevin. Her mother's marriage to Carson and their move to Sault Ste. Marie changed their lives forever. Donja knew that she had Chippewa blood, but she never knew the power it possessed. The Chippewa blood that led her to find her true love opened a chain reaction of events that followed. Her blood was very irresistible to Iridescents, and they wanted it at any cost. Torin, her true love, risks everything to have her love. He even protects her against Scarface, who wants her blood to make himself stronger. Torin is willing to go to war and sacrifice his life for Donja and her family. This tale is about love, family, sacrifice, bravery, knowing and acknowledging one's ancestry.
The positive aspects are; the book is enjoyable, hard to put down, and very enthralling. The book is well written, and the author did a great job of creating a spellbinding story that refused to let me go. The errors didn't disturb the readability of the book. The storyline was very engaging.
There weren't many negative aspects except the errors, profanity, extreme violence, and mentions of women being raped and murdered. The extreme violence against women and Iridescents decapitated was what I liked least in the book. But despite all that, I enjoyed the book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because Karen Glista took me on a roller coaster of emotions, and the story captivated me until the very end. The book was enjoyable, and I can't wait to find out what happens next. One of my favorite reads this year!
I would recommend this book to romance lovers, people who enjoy vampire romance, and anyone looking for a good read. Reading this book was worth my time, and anyone who reads the book will love and enjoy it. I hope the author has another installment in the works for us. Great job!
