What exactly is Electromagnetic Pulse? How threatening is E.M.P to our planet? What happens when a country fails to implement safety measures against terrorists' invasion? These and more are what Dorothy May Mercer tried to expose in her book's E M P Honeymoon.

Newlyweds' Tom and Kelly are on a honeymoon somewhere in Honduras. One fateful day, Tom had gone fishing and Kelly went on a tour around town in a tour bus. Kelly had wandered off from the bus when she spotted a pigsty. She entered the pigsty hoping she could get some pig toys for her mother-in-law, but she discovered something else, something not only dangerous to her but also to her country. What did Kelly discover? How detrimental is what she discovered to her country?

E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a fast-paced thriller. It was written in the third-person narrative. This made me discover each character's perspective in the story. The plot is superbly structured, and I love the characters' development, especially Tom's.

This is a work that obviously attempts to educate and enlighten the public about a natural phenomenon that could be harmful or fatal if it occurs. She tried to expose the threat posed by certain third-world dictators, not just to the United States alone, but also to the rest of the world. This is a work that exposed me to the meaning of Electromagnetic Pulse and the danger it could bring if our environment gets exposed to its flare.

A character I felt really connected to was Dr. Peter Kinney. A professor, according to this book, at the State University in Utah. Dr. Peter felt it was his sole responsibility to enlighten the government of the possible threat to the power grid of the United States and how it could damage a lot if it is not properly guarded. This is a character I realized was doing everything in his power to help his nation overcome a future threat, not just because he is capable of doing so, but also because of his love for his dear country.

However, there was one thing I didn't like about this book, and that was the loss of pace just in the middle of the adventure. I had to ask myself if I was still reading the same book. I think the introduction of some characters made it lose its pace.

Therefore, I will rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars. This was because the author should have done better with the story concerning losing its pace in the middle. Especially when introducing Agatha and Sharon. I only found a couple of errors though, so that didn't interrupt my reading. Therefore, I think the book was professionally edited and proofread. I would recommend this book to lovers of thrillers.
