How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy is a motivational book which features some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs’ success stories. Mr. McCoy tells us how he defied all odds to become an entrepreneur of note. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 27 months old. The disease affected his growth and physical strength so much so that he had to exercise really hard to appear strong. Curtis accounts how perseverance and positivity saw him through high school and college into the entrepreneurship world. After making something of his life he lost everything after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. He was given 3 months to live but his family refused to give up. He found cure in Mexico. After recovering from the tumor Curtis built Best Cellular, company with branches nationwide. He tells us that his tenacity and positivity has made Best Cellular one of the success stories in the United States. In this book McCoy implies that everyone has what it takes to be successful. To prove his point, McCoy has featured people who were thought be failures in life. With a renewed mindset and a paradigm shift, they all changed their lives for the best.

The good thing about this book is that it is more of a practical than theory. We have real life stories whereby people who were written-off as failures changed their stories by overhauling their daily routines. There is Caujuan Mayo who served four years in prison yet with determination and a changed mindset he became a revered Author and Publisher. Curtis’s mom walked out of an abusive marriage to make something of herself. Another positive is that the stories are featured as interviews which makes them more interesting and easier to read. The author wrote the exact words of interviewees which works well with the reader’s imagination. The fact that the interviews are calibrated or nicely separated makes it easier to choose a section to read once in a while.
The book is short which makes it ideal for a quick read. This is a huge plus if you want to get motivated without spending much time.

The negative thing about this book is that it lacks a proper cover. I think a proper cover would make it more appealing. Another minor flaw is that the book leans more towards a certain religion and that could be turn-off to some people.

This book is professionally edited with no visible errors and I give it 3 out of 4 stars. The fact that a certain religion is referenced through-out the book may scare-off some readers.

I recommend this book to all those trying to make it in life. It will help those battling certain ailments, athletes, business people and spiritual leaders.
