[Following is a volunteer review of "Rise of the Savior" by Antoine Bonner.]
Rise of the Savior is a teenage action-packed science fiction and fantasy novel by Antoine Bonner. The novel is narrated from a third-person point of view by the author. It is narrated in the present tense. The novel centers around an eighteen-years-old girl called Amanda.
Amanda is an eighteen-years-old girl who has just finished studying high school and is looking forward to going to college. She wants to go to a university instead of going to college. Amanda's little sister, Saira, is experiencing special abilities but no one is willing to accept this including Amanda. Amanda falls on an accident but recovers in an unbelievable way. She understands that she has special powers but she is scared and not willing to accept this. Doctor Jamie Cornor's son, Lucas, is very sick and is on the verge of death. The deity of death selects Jamie as his acolyte. This deity tells Jamie that he should kill children to save his son. These children include Saira. What should Amanda do to save her only sister?
The thing that I disliked about the novel is the protagonist's arrogance and ignorance which she depicts at the beginning of the novel. Some special abilities of characters are not well explained and I failed to understand how these abilities work. The author introduces characters that are not relevant to the storyline like Akuma and Shen.
The thing that I liked most about the novel is that the author keeps on twisting the storyline to make it more interesting. These twists make the novel very unpredictable and fascinating. I liked the character of Saira. She is just a six-year-old but is able to lead a team of mature men and women. The special abilities possessed by characters are unique and can not be found in other superhero books. I liked how the protagonist communicaties with her other self called Leyna in her mind.
The novel was exceptionally well edited. I came across only one error while I was reading. I give the novel a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars because the plot has an element of suspense that it creates in the reader's mind. It lacks erotic scenes. It contains gruesome scenes and has profane words hence not recommended for young audiences. It is a good read to lovers of action-packed superhero books and movies. I recommend it to readers of science fiction and fantasy novels.
