The book Randy the Irresistible by S M Goodier is based on the life of Randy Love. It narrates various snippets from his life and how he handles these situations. It is narrated from the third person point of view and follows mainly Randy’s perspective.

In the book we see, Randy as a child who is hyperactive. He loses his mother at a very young age and is brought up by his father. You see the Love family, Randy’s father, John Love, his older brother, James Love, and his sister, Harriet Love, are all successful and are living a happy life, while Randy is struggling with college and work. He is trying to be independent but always lands up in weird situations. Being a guy with good looks he has no shortage of women in his life. But as he loses interest in them, he leaves them or in some cases runs away. This is the time the youth leave the comforts of their parents’ home and go on to have a life of their own. You see a mixture of hilarious and stupid situations that he has created for himself.

The aspects that I liked about the book were that it followed mainly Randy’s perspective. At times you could see him making mistakes and know that he is going to end up in some weird situation. Watching him deal with awkward situations, in a very different and unique way, was fun. It was interesting to see that the book was based in England. As most of the books are based in America, seeing a person in a different country with a different culture was very refreshing.

The aspects that I did not like were that I lost interest in the book soon. It was a good book but after some time I lost the enthusiasm. I found the book was not as exciting as I would have liked it. Also, since the book was written with snippets of his life, you do not have continuous flow of the events.

I rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars. The book was well-written and well edited as I found no errors in it. But I did not enjoy it that much to give it a 3-star rating. I found it to be very slow-paced for my liking. It was an overall good book. Randy was a very enjoyable character and I had fun reading about him.

I recommend this book to people who like reading biographies and slow-paced books. It follows Randy most of the time and felt like a biography to me. There are instances of profanity seen. The book also comprises of sexual content.
