[Following is a volunteer review of "The Mystery Of Flight 2222" by Thomas Neviaser.]
The book The Mystery of Flight 2222 by Thomas Neviaser is a story about nine people that survived a plane that crashed into the sea. Spending several days and weeks on the sea, being attacked by sharks, they were forced to succumb to cannibalism and later being captured by pirates, how do they survive?
Just like the name implies, the book has a mystic tone and a sense of adventure that it created in the mind of the reader. From the beginning of the book, I had my curiosity and hopes up. And I was not disappointed. From the beginning; after the crash, the book took a toll of action till the end. The twists and turns made by the author were beyond my expectations. The book blew my mind.
The author has a way with words. He's a very skilled writer, just like a good artist knows how to paint a picture with colors, the author knows how to paint a picture in the form of descriptions in the mind of his readers. One of such is "...was a lanky, twenty-or-so-year-old kid with pierced ears and a scraggly goatee. Every bit of his face seemed to have sharp edges—his brow, his nose, his cheekbones, and chin. He was wearing a dyed Tshirt that he’d probably made in his bathroom, stained blue jeans, and green sneakers. His arms were tattooed from the back of his hands to under the short sleeves of his shirt. A prominent red tattoo of what appeared to be a dragon’s head on the back of his neck seemed to be peeking over the shirt’s thin collar." It was like watching a character in 3D.
I love how the author structured the different characters in the book. He took time to go through each character, exposing his personality, looks, strength and flaws so that the reader can be conversant with them.
Although the book was written from the point of view of one of the characters in the book. The author included thoughts and dialogue of different characters, especially that of the nine. This created a kind of spice to the book, granting us the ability to read the book from different views and try to understand the peculiarities of different characters in the book.
Towards the end of the book, the author outlined lessons that he intended to pass using the book. The book wasn't just ordinary fiction written only to entertain but a piece of work written to enlighten and pass a message across. The way the author did it is what I admire most in the book.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book.
The editors did a very good job editing the book. I'd give it a four out of four stars. I found no errors in the book. I'd recommend it to fiction lovers, especially those that love adventures.
