Going Gone, an anthology by Abraham Lopez, consists of 12 stories that all intertwine in one way or another. These 12 stories show cause and effect to the fullest extent as a series of events lead to the assassination of the Prime Minister which leaves not only the country, but several lives in disarray. One comes to realise that one thing, no matter how menial, leads to the next and that all beings, whether human or mechanically engineered, are connected and indirectly affected by the world around them through the domino effect. People who have never met, surfing the same waves made by one central event.

This book has several favourable aspects. I especially like how every detail is described to a tee, leaving little room for confusion in addition to the deep dive taken into each character's life. Branching out from the common thread of the major event taking place, we are allowed a chance to experience these character's lives and are given a glimpse into each of their little realities, which collectively form an entire world's worth. One is left with a strong sense of sonder after reading this book.

One may even go as far as to say that they felt like a detective investigating a vast case across a huge cork board with events connected by a piece of red string while reading this book. I personally enjoyed trying to find the connection between each story and was saddened by it having to come to an end. The narrative changes from first to third person throughout the book which provides an even more in depth insight and perspective into the events. This book is well paced as it has it's fair share of action packed scenes as well as others that require one to think and dig a little deeper to uncover it's relevance but rest assured, no detail is given in vain. Every little thing, person and event has a role to play in the greater scheme of the story.

There are little to no negative aspects of this book. Unfortunately due to the length and number of stories, the imagination of the reader may grow tired. This book requires one to have a somewhat extensive attention span in order to appreciate it to it's greatest extent. If not, one would be deterred by the moments of monotony and endless descriptions therefore causing them to miss the climaxes.

The book is well edited as it has less than 10 errors. I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. and would recommend it to young adults who enjoy figuring things out and would like a little challenge for the brain whilst being wildly entertained.
