Review of Rise of the Savior
The book The Rise of the Savior by Antoine Bonner is a story about a young girl Amanda, who is bestowed with the Acolyte of truth: the ability to determine if somebody is telling the truth or lying. The power that she possesses could save her family and the whole world from evil but she first needs to become one with her kundalini by syncing with each other, mind and soul so she can become stronger and master her powers.
I love the brevity of the chapters. At first, I was shocked when I checked the contents and saw twenty-three (23) chapters, but I was consoled after I noticed that the content of the chapters were quite brief. The chapters are also filled with amazing contents and are well connected to each other; each chapter was a continuation of the previous chapter and all the chapters adequately contributed to the plot of the story.
The characterisation is also very commendable. The author did not use too many characters in the book. He did a good job with creating the personality, name, traits of each character. Each character could easily be identified and differentiated from other characters. Their dialogues and conversations were also well constructed, the author exposed the reader to their thought pattern, it was easy for the reader to interact with the different characters in the book.
I love how good the author is with descriptions. He is very skilled in using words to create images in the mind of the reader. Without a good description, the book automatically becomes boring. The author did a good job, take for instance: "They walk through the entrance, and Amanda can’t help but marvel at the massive room with multiple stories. The walls are wooden, and there’s a large golden triangle covering the middle of the white marble floor. At each point of the triangle, there’s a pair of gray stone pillars with vines and flowers wrapped around them, with a flowing waterfall between each one. The ceiling is holographic and looks like a beautiful sunny sky with birds flying in it."
The author related the story in an amazing way for his reader; he narrated actions, sequences of events and the storyline clearly for the reader, he didn't leave us in the dark or confused. He employed the omniscient point of view style of narration but he included dialogues and conversation of different characters to spice things up. I found the storyline very thrilling and engaging and the author skillfully narrated it, adding twists where necessary. I enjoyed the last chapters of the book most. I couldn't drop the book from the moment the fight and action started till when the book finished.
There was absolutely nothing that I disliked about the book.
The editors did an amazing job, the book was exceptionally edited. I found no single error in the whole book. I would rate the book four out of four stars. I will recommend it to any good story lover, especially if you are a shonen anime lover.
