Randy The Irresistible” by S.M. Goodier

Randy The Irresistible by S.M. Goodier is a fiction book, and this story is set in life in England which tell us about the life of the youngest child of John and Marjorie Love. Randy Love, a young man who is smart and easy to get along person. He is good looking and also popular among girls. This book wants to show us how youngster uses their time without any plans and purpose in their life. They will make some mess for themselves.

Although Randy is intelligent, he has different perspective life from his siblings Harriet Love and James Love. Harriet work as an architect at Turner Wells Architects and his brother James work at law firm. Both his sister and brother finished their studies at college and have steady jobs. But Randy takes a break, his studies at University of California, back to England and work at various part time jobs, because he always binds in finance problem. He is also always in trouble with women, because his habit is too easy to change girlfriends. Thankfully, he has a good relationship with his father. In Randy’s mind only get easy money and having fun with girls. He’s also a rather egoistic person, until he finds himself needing more money. He almost wasted his youth without any plans, nevertheless he was able to overcome his financial problems because he was a salesman, he was good at convincing people. Until he can establish himself as an employee at reputable bank. Finally, he realizes that he has great potential to reach a higher career, to achieve it, he moves to London to take the financial advisor exam, and he passed. Then he met Nicky a solicitor who works at his brother’s firm. Will Nicky to be his last girl? Can he keep his job and reach a higher position? What is his next plan when he has steady jobs? Will Randy change his way of thinking and have a clear vision for his life? Did Harriet and James play a role encouraging Randy to think about his future?

This story is light and tends to be a comedy genre, but give us a message that young people should not waste time doing something they will regret. When young people have a lot of time to be able to explore the potential that exists within themselves, it must be used as well as possible. S.M. Goodier can carry this message lightly and in British style. This book contains a various characters mostly Randy’s friend. And although each character did not show a prominent role, but complements Randy's character.

This story does not have a surprising plot and tends to be flat and boring. And in this story has many characters, but do not have a strong role, sometimes it can make the reader forget the character.

This book is quite interesting, but not enough to make readers remember the whole story, because the plot of the story in my opinion is not well developed. I will rate 3 stars out of 4. I recommend this book for young adult readers, because there is some erotic scene in it.

I think this story has many lessons to teach young people. Young men, in particular, could learn from Randy's mistakes.

Thank you for sharing your honest opinion.
