Review of Zara Hanson & The Mystery of the Painted Symbol
A lot of fantasy to absorb! Zara Hanson & The Mystery of the Painted Symbol is a fantasy novel. Zara is sent on a mission. It turns into something totally bonkers. She is trained by Wang in various martial arts. She meets Ansebe during the mission. Ansebe is an extra-terrestrial person with unique abilities. They both join together on a nearly impossible mission to save the earth, the Terra, from being wiped out by the Elbs.
They are soon joined by Fez-pyan, Serpent that shines, on this adventure. Many thrilling moments pan out as many hidden truths are unraveled. Zara gets to know about her past lives and the purpose of this life as she becomes the cardinal on the chessboard. There are many other mysterious powerful characters in this novel like Sub-Rohza, oblongs, the golden ascetic, Kyubi-K, Lady Devanagari, Master Antariksha, the Elbs, Fy, xylographitet, and tetraporphyrin. Every character plays an important role in developing the story into something magnanimous.
Zara is bombarded with more and more fateful things as the story evolves. The earth is under attack by the Elbs. Only Zara can save the world from annihilation. But the problem is, she doesn’t have any idea what’s going on. I liked the storyline. There was way too much fantasy going on. The author, J.L. Haynes, made certain things difficult to grasp. The readers will learn a lot of new words from this book. If the fantasy levels were reduced a bit and the storyline built more, it would have been a perfect blend. Zara’s character could have evolved more in the latter parts of the episodes.
I would give this book 2 out of 4 stars. The reason is the plethora of fantasies spilled all over the book. I am a fan of fantasy, but I found this book a bit too much to grasp. The powers of each character, the black holes, various planets, Nanotech were overloaded with a range of overwhelming stuff. This book is a great example of the power of human creativity. In my opinion, this book could have been made a good sci-fi movie rather than a novel. I laud the author’s wide creativity.
Fantasy geeks would surely love this book. Some might find it difficult to visualize every scene. If you love adventure, you might like this book. If you are not a fan of fantasy, I would strongly recommend skipping this book. Watch out for the Nan-arcons and the belly of tetraporyphyrin. It glows. Literally! I hope Zara Hanson & The Mystery of the Painted Symbol would be made into a fantasy movie in the future.
