The Elf Legacy covers most of the years the elves and Santa spent in North Pole and how they expanded as the world outside changed. The story starts off promoting Anna from a clerk to a teacher. Despite her doubts and hesitance, she takes the role determined to do her best. Over the years, her role begins to gather more attention and she becomes a vital part of many of the good changes to the elves' home. Yet she encounters smaller but far more irritating problems with her best friend, Tobi.

Tetsu and Emiko have become students of the great master Merlin. They've trained for long years and Merlin soon announces his departure is to take place. Tetsu is at unease and tries to prolong Merlin's stay to no
avail. He believes Emiko carries her human attachments with her, along with her greed for power which increases as time passes. With Merlin's departure, Tetsu is cautious and even more in doubt of his colleague and her intentions towards the mission. Will his doubts ease once again? Is Emiko an ally or a foe? Will they have the peace he's wanted?

The Elf Legacy takes us back to a few decades after Leopold's retirement. There are many characters from the previous books. Some from the very first and some from the fourth. Jordan David has made it so that The Elf Legacy is almost like a sequel to his fourth book, both of which could've been read together as a separate collection or a prequel to the first three. The story focuses on Anna and Tetsu mostly, alongside other side-characters who, though not taking part in many scenes, are just as important.

Anna is quite impulsive at times for which she pays a price. Her unyielding faith in the mission and North Pole makes her a perfect role model for many elves. She takes on many roles during her stay. Her beliefs are firm and hard to shake. Though she tends to be easily angered which cost her quite a few arguments with her dear friends. While Anna is like an ember of fire, burning bright, Tetsu is an ocean. His character seems calm and collected and yet there are times he explodes like a tsunami. He gets especially fierce when dealing with Emiko. His firm resolution to maintain the peace at all costs is almost like a guardian's vow. Truly Intriguing.

The plot was absorbing. I could relate to Emiko and her hunger for knowledge and power. I would've loved to see what she'd seen in all those galaxies she traveled to. The story was a bit too long for my taste, however once I started, I almost couldn't stop. There was hardly anything I disliked in general. There were a few spelling mistakes which is why I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend the series to those with a hunger to read of magic, the warmth of Christmas and the friendships formed and destroyed.
