The Devil’s Eclipse is a compilation of short horror stories written by Christopher Williams. Stories ranging from demons sent from the king of hell to a very scary infection of roaches summarize the range of the 8 stories that are found in The Devil's Eclipse. The short stories also differ from the era and not just situations.

What I enjoyed about The Devil’s Eclipse was the fact that having eight stories in one book offers a variety of stories to pick and choose from. Therefore, if one of the stories may not be your cup of tea, there are others to choose from and that you may find more to your taste. Each story is short and does not need a lot of time to read, thus making it an easy read.

That being said, I did not particularly enjoy this book. When I first read the description, I expected a collection of spooky horror stories to read around a campfire, or maybe stories that would make me fear hearing something going bump in the night. But sadly, that was not what the book was about. Rather, it was a compilation of stories that tried to oversexualize every situation and made use of unneeded profanity that added nothing to the story. I have no issue with the use of profanity usually, but it just did not add anything but rather subtracted from the story in the way it was used. I suspect it was rather his choice of words he used in situations rather than the use of profanity that was the issue for me. Most of the stories in the book contain some sort of sexual activity. Rape and sexual assault were also mentioned, but not at full length. Even though it was added as a reason for revenge, it was not used in a way the reader would find digestible, but rather vulgar. I also found it strange that the stories themselves had chapters when they, in my opinion, were not long enough to need them.

I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars. My reason being, I would not recommend this book to other people; but it can be true that in some cases readers may differ and enjoy the book. In my opinion, it would not be worth the time to read.

I would not recommend this book unless you are trying to read different kinds of horror stories or are just interested in what kind of book The Devil’s Eclipse is, I would also advise that individuals sensitive to triggers such as sexual assault just be aware that the book contains such aspects all though in a small quantity specific just one story.
