Review of The Devil Pulls the Strings

[Following is a volunteer review of "The Devil Pulls the Strings" by J. W. Zarek.]
Paganini is an incredibly talented musician who is rumored to have sold his soul to the devil due to his amazing unworldly musical symphonies. His music is priceless. His rarest composition, which has not been heard for over a century, is to be played at midnight at the Annual Dragons and Nymphs Society Charity Ball. That is, after the performance of the Village Idiots best Ren Faire Band with Boone Daniels as their singer. Boone seriously injured his best friend, Flynn, in a joust rendering him incapable of performing at this band’s big break. Flynn makes Boone promise to sing in his stead as Flynn tries to fight for his life at the hospital. Boone intends to deliver on this promise at all costs. As soon as Boone arrives at New York City for the charity ball, all hell breaks loose. It is nonstop action from then on. We have bodies dropping, unnatural beings summoned, compositions to be found, times to be traveled to, and fears to be challenged. The possible destruction of New York City or much worse boils down to one symphony played at midnight in the blue moon and a wish to be granted.
The Devil Pulls the Strings by J. W. Zarek represents a fictional story of adventures, secret societies, unnatural beings, and time travel. Its events are a nonstop run to reach the performance night. Entangled mysteries to find and protect the symphonies gave this story its intrigue. I especially enjoyed the trips to the past since it was interesting to see a glimpse of the world Paganini was a part of. The story’s ending nicely ties all-important plots and does not leave the reader hanging. This book is professionally written. The sentences link well, the chapters are small.
I did not particularly dislike anything. I felt a bit lost while reading the prologue due to the many names, characters, and events. But did not feel the same way about the actual story. The characters were actually clear and well developed.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars . It is a well-written book. The story is a captivating adventure of unnatural events. The characters were well developed. The plot twists were interesting and unexpected. The book is well-edited with clear sentences and consistent structure. I also was barely able to note any errors.
I would recommend this book to fiction and adventure readers. It is a good read.
