Review of Red Wave Imperative
Red Wave Imperative by Alan Schein is a book about American politics with one clear purpose, which is to convince Americans to vote for the Republican party.
In his book, the author exposes the deceptions and propaganda used by the Democratic party to gain support through the media. He goes on to argue that the "New Democratic Party" is no longer the same as it was in the olden times. Instead, they are a party pushing a neo-Marxist agenda which the author believes may lead to a civil war. In the following chapters, he touches upon many popular debate topics such as immigration, gun control, corruption and explains why socialism will inadvertently lead to a bigger wealth gap and worse outcomes for the average person. He proposes an alternative model, named Voters-Controlled Democracy that is based on the approach taken by Singapore. At first, the concept may seem strange to the western world, but he argues that Singapore's flourishing economy and welfare are proof of the system's efficiency and potential benefit to the nation. He also shares his personal experiences and suggests solutions that he believes could help ameliorate current issues.
The author presents his case in a strong argumentative writing style. What I like most about this book is that the author provides actual references to support his arguments, so that readers can verify the information presented and learn more about each topic. The language used was simple and easy to understand.
Of course, this book will not appeal to everyone, and may even come off as offensive to people on the radical left. The author has strong biases and sometimes, he seems to be blind-sighted towards the faults and mistakes made by Republican politicians. I suggest readers keep an open mind as the book still does offer useful wisdom.
There were only a handful of minor errors, which did not affect my understanding of the book. I have no doubt that this book was professionally edited. Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
Despite being written for the 2018 election, I believe it is still a worthwhile read as many of the issues discussed are still highly relevant in today's political sphere. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about American politics, especially to young adults. I think it is important for young people to be aware of political issues since today's youths will be tomorrow's leaders. This book can provide some valuable insight and ideas for how to improve the country, regardless of which political party you support.
